2006 Display PDF Print E-mail

Ever wonder what would happen if you put 40 channels into one window?  Take a look into the development of this project for the 2006 season.  You can view the items any of the following ways:

I also began work on a 40 circuit window display for my dorm room.  The entire show was made using products from Light-O-Rama.  They sell everything you need to get started from the software to the equipment and wiring.

My window project can be viewed by clicking one of the link above.  The entire project was over 2000 lights punched through coroplast which I hung in the window.  It was controlled by a computer using 40 relays that fired according the computer's commands.  To be more specific, the Christmas lights were hooked up to 40 different relays inside three master controllers.  All three controllers are hooked up to my computer, and the computer sends commands to each master controller.  Each controller, in turn, grants or denies electricity to each of the 40 relay circuits according to the PC's directions.

In addition to normal on and off, each relay has the capability to do effects such and twinkle, shimmer, fade up, fade down, and set the intensity (50%, 40%, 30% brightness, etc.)
